For compliance with Canadian plumbing and safety codes, a Pressure Relief Valve is mandatory and must be purchased and installed separately. Unlike traditional tank-style water heaters, tankless models typically do not come with an integrated valve, however, Canadian regulations require the additional safety measure, ensuring protection against potential overpressure conditions.
You can readily find the necessary 3/4" NPT Pressure Relief Valve at most major home improvement retailers, specialized plumbing supply stores, and various online marketplaces. When purchasing, ensure the valve is explicitly designed for water heater applications - typically rated for approximately 150 PSI. For guaranteed compliance with local codes and optimal safety, professional installation by a licensed plumber is highly recommended.
